Outpatient Rehabilitation

Outpatient rehabilitation services offered by the University of Mississippi Medical Center include telemetry-monitored exercise for patients who have experienced coronary events. Some of the conditions we treat include coronary artery bypass graft, heart transplants, valve replacements, heart attacks, stable angina, coronary angioplasty, and coronary stenting.

Our physician-supervised outpatient cardiac rehabilitation program is housed at the University Physicians - Northeast Jackson offices at Select Specialty Hospital. The care team also includes two cardiac nurses with combined experience of more than 47 years.

Patients are referred by their physician upon discharge from University Hospital or at their first doctor's appointment after leaving the hospital. The exercise program usually consists of 36 monitored sessions, and weekly education classes are encouraged. Education topics address risk factors related to coronary disease, including cholesterol, inactivity, hypertension, smoking, uncontrolled diabetes, and non-compliance with medication administration.
